Back and Forth Folder
One of the most important elements of our daily routine will be the Back and Forth Folder. The back and forth folder is one means of communication between home and school. It should come to school every day and will go home every day. Please make a habit of checking and initialing it!
Each day the students will print their name and stamp the date in the book, and if you initial the date or the message I will put a stamp or sticker in the agenda when I check it the next day. We can write messages and reminders back and forth, and your initials will tell me that you are seeing them. This builds the routine that will ultimately develop into the students writing messages to you - reinforcing the message that print carries meaning.
Your support of this routine is essential! Please check the folder every day and feel free to write messages to me noting absences, alternative pickup arrangements, or anything else that doesn't require a phone call. There are times when important, timely reminders will be noted so checking the folder daily is a good habit to develop.
One side of the folder will have a pocket for items to be left at home (completed work, newsletters) and the other side will have a pocket for items that need to be signed and sent back to school (permission forms, hot lunch forms). Communication pages will be in the middle of the folder.
